In 2010 the GMs mailed new Eternium Fishing Lines to affected players that submitted a ticket which when applied gave the appropriate +5, in 2022, they just tell you they can’t fix it and that you’re SOL. In any case, the only enchant that gives +2 fishing is the glove enchant, there are no fishing lines that give +2, only +3 or +5. This bug was acknowledged by Blizzard in 2010 so they were aware of it back then. I don’t know if this is part of what caused the bug or not, I don’t know if others who have this issue replaced old lines with it or if that was the only line they’ve applied to that fishing pole. It did not affect all characters so it’s probably hard to say what actually caused the bug, I know for me personally I had a Truesilver Line applied to the fishing pole before I applied the Eternium Line back before the WoTLK prepatch hit. The dialog box issue was fixed but the issue for characters who already had it applied beforehand never was. Additionally, the line when you were applying to a fishing pole that already had a line said ‘replace with +2’ in the dialog box but it in fact applied +5.
When 3.3.3 hit SOME characters were affected where the +5 from their Eternium Lines now said +2 and GAVE +2. This is a bug from OG WoTLK that they never fixed.
